OUR AIMS & OBJECTIVES

Beyond the Bell Out of School Club will provide private childcare services for before- and after-school hours. The Club will be registered with the Care Inspectorate and will follow the Scottish Social Services Council Qualification Standards and Codes of Practice. We will support children and young people by implementing health and safety policies and procedures, and by adhering to the GIRFEC framework and Health and Social Care Standards. 

To ensure we are meeting all the above Standards, we will 

  • provide child-centred care – we will make sure that children's choices, preferences and goals are respected and integrated  
  • uphold children's rights and dignity, privacy, safety and choice
  • staff will work together with parents to make sure services are accessible, flexible and responsive to all children 
  • we will foster a welcoming, safe environment and promote well-being 

Aims of the service

The Club provides childcare with high-quality support to Primary School children. We want Beyond the Bell Out of School Club to be the best place for children to rest, learn, and develop passions and hobbies after a busy day at school. Children will receive high-quality care and support tailored to their needs. They will be fully involved in all decisions, from the snack options to the daily activities. 

Beyond the Bell Out of School Club aim to:

  • Provide a secure and welcoming environment where children feel valued, respected, and included.
  • Promote children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through play, exploration, and positive relationships.
  • Support families by offering reliable, flexible, and high-quality childcare that responds to individual needs.
  • Uphold the principles of GIRFEC (Getting it Right for Every Child), ensuring each child is safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible, and included.
  • Meet and exceed the Health and Social Care Standards and SSSC Codes of Practice in all areas of service delivery.

At Beyond the Bell Out of School Club, we are committed to meeting and promoting the principles of: Dignity and Respect, Compassion, Be Included, Responsive support and Wellbeing. If we do not meet these standards, parents of children attending our Club can raise their concerns with us, use our complaints procedure, or complain to the Care Inspectorate. 

 

Standard 1. I experience high-quality care and support that is right for me.

We will:

  • Provide care that is tailored to each child’s individual needs, preferences, and routines.
  • Work in partnership with children and parents to co-create daily plans, snack choices, and activity options.
  • Ensure that all staff are responsive, consistent, and respectful in how they interact with each child.
  • Monitor each child’s wellbeing regularly and adjust care and support as needed.

 

2. I am fully involved in all decisions about my care and support.

We will:

  • Actively involve children in making decisions about the activities they take part in, the environment, and daily routines.
  • Use child-friendly communication methods to ensure all children can express their views and preferences.
  • Encourage children to contribute to the development of the club through regular feedback and group discussions.
  • Support parents and carers to be equal partners in planning and reviewing their child’s care.

 

3. I have confidence in the people who support and care for me.

We will:

  • Employ qualified, registered, and compassionate staff who follow the SSSC Codes of Practice.
  • Provide ongoing training and professional development to ensure staff deliver safe, high-quality care.
  • Foster trusting relationships between staff, children, and families through consistent, respectful communication.
  • Ensure all staff follow safeguarding, child protection, and confidentiality policies at all times.

 

4. I have confidence in the organisation providing my care and support.

We will:

  • Maintain compliance with Care Inspectorate regulations, GIRFEC principles, and Health and Social Care Standards.
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and risk assessments are regularly reviewed and clearly communicated.
  • Operate a transparent service with clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability across the team.
  • Welcome feedback from children, parents, and professionals, and use it to improve our service.

 

5. I experience a high-quality environment if the organisation provides the premises.

We will:

  • Provide a clean, safe, and welcoming space that supports children's rest, play, creativity, and socialisation.
  • Ensure the environment is inclusive and accessible to meet the needs of all children.
  • Offer a stimulating variety of age-appropriate resources and spaces for both active and quiet play.
  • Involve children in shaping and personalising the environment to reflect their interests and ideas.
